5 Reasons We Can’t Wait For Pokemon Go!
The announcement of Pokemon Go for smartphones had many Pokemon fans ecstatic and fist pumping, while also bringing many old school fans out of the woodwork. The prospect of being able to go out in the real world and encounter, battle and catch Pokemon using the app and your phone was too much to take! The trailer certainly got us all hooked and curious as to how exactly it would work and how well it would be implemented. Although there are many who think it will be a flop, or will fail to live up to its expectations, we disagree! Here are 5 reasons why we personally cannot wait for the release of Pokemon Go.
Using the Pokemon Go Plus accessory, you will soon be able to know when a Pokemon is near your current location and apparently it will tell you the distance and direction of said Pokemon. Imagine going for a hike, or a lovely late night stroll around the neighbourhood, before suddenly being informed that Pikachu is in your immediate location. The idea of suddenly going off on an adventure to find it while keeping track of how far away you are using GPS and the app is extremely exciting to us.
You could even be on your lunch break, or walking to a bar at night when you are suddenly called away on exploration and Pokemon Trainer duty.
Pokemon battles are cool. Even back in the day when we used to link up with our friends using two gameboys and a cable, and the Pokemon didn’t even look that impressive, the battles were always competitive and thrilling.
Pokemon games and battles have come a long way since then, but from what we have seen in the trailer, battles with Pokemon Go will be immense, and it looks like group battles will be possible which will add a whole other element to the mix.
With the first official Pokemon Gym opening in Japan recently, and the promise of more to come in the next year, it has to be assumed that these will be used to maximum effect with Pokemon Go. Although there have been no plans to bring any of these outside of Japan as of yet, imagine how cool it would to be to travel around the country to actual official Pokemon gyms, battle using your caught Pokemon and then earning your badges!
It’s the stuff that childhood dreams are made of, and we can guarantee that plenty of adults will also take the plunge. Even if the idea of gyms doesn’t take off over here, it’s almost certain there will still be events of similar goals.
The end of the trailer shows hundreds of people working together in an apparent event to defeat and then catch Mewtwo. If this is a reflection on actual in app events, it seems that everyone uses their Pokemon to weaken the legendary Pokemon and ultimately catch it within the allotted time limit.
Although the trailer no doubt glorifies this occurrence to an incredibly cheesy level, we still think it would be fun and rewarding to work together with both friends and strangers in order to try and catch an extremely rare Pokemon. Let’s just hope it would be implemented correctly, and would not be a great let down after their stunning display.
- To Fulfil A Dream
This final reason may make you cringe, but honestly now – who didn’t imagine and dream of being a Pokemon Trainer when they were a child? Remember when you used to dream of Pokemon living in the real world and being able to catch and train them, battle random people on the street? Well now it seems we can, to an extent! As close as we are likely to ever get anyhow. Anyone who ever played a Pokemon game surely must give Pokemon Go a try if only to please their inner child, and to see their imagination run wild once again as it did all those years ago. We for one can’t wait, and hope that it lives up to the standard and expectations that were set with the release of the official trailer.
What are your thoughts on Pokemon Go? Is it all flash and no substance? Does the trailer exaggerate way too much?
