Weekly Manga Minute #19

By  |

On this week’s Manga Minute, we’ve got some cats, some ‘ne, ne, ne’ and also some new Berserk! Does that sound a little confusing? Then read below to find out what we’re talking about!

1. Vertical Licenses the manga “She & Her Cat”

Are you up for another amazing manga and concept by Makoto Shinkai (with the help of Tsubasa Yamaguchi)? Well the manga publisher Vertical will be bringing the manga She and Her Cat over to the west. Shinkai right now continues to slay the world and all of existence with his movie “Your Name,” and we here at Popgeekly loved Vertical’s other published Shinkai manga Voices of a Distant Star and 5 Centimeters per Second. The Garden of Words is on our list!

We can expect the Shinkai manga to come to us this summer. And also you may want to grab a box of tissue…just in case.

2. First (New) “Berserk” Manga In Over Three Years!!

Praise be to the gods of manga! Berserk fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief as we have found out that Dark Horse will finally bring us the first new manga from the beloved manga series in three years!

Kentarō Miura’s next installment of his creation will drop for the first time since the November 20, 2013 release of volume 37.

Dark Horse wrote:

“After over three years of anticipation by fans, from creator Kentaro Miura (Giganto Maxia, Japan, King of Wolves) comes Berserk Volume 38, a sprawling adult fantasy epic of fierce imagination!”

The manga is up for preorder on Amazon and the description goes:

“Guts the Black Swordsman and company reach the isle of Skellig in hopes that Elven magic can cure the afflicted Casca, but the cure could come at a deadly cost. Meanwhile, Guts’ Band of the Hawk comrade Rickert journeys to the city of Falconia, the seat of power for Griffith, the resurrected former Hawks commander. But the glittering towers of Falconia cast the darkest of shadows, and a legion of demonic monstrosities dwell in the darkness!”

Excited? Yes we are!

It is slated to release July 18, 2017.

3. Ready for a Simulpub of “Ne Ne Ne” Manga?

If you’re a Shizuku Totono and Daisuke Hagiwara fan, then you’re in for some great news! Manga publisher Yen Press announced today that they will be presenting a simul-publication of the manga Ne Ne Ne, by Shizuku Totono and Daisuke Hagiwara.

Can we get a “yay?!”

The publication starts with four chapters on Friday, February 10th.

For those of you who want to know more about the series, here’s the description:

“What’s it about? Married off to a man more than twenty years her senior, Koyuki has no idea what her new life has in store for her. She’s so in the dark, in fact, that she hasn’t even seen her husband’s face! But Koyuki isn’t alone in fumbling through the intricacies of wedded bliss. Mask-donning Shin might have many years on his young wife, but as it turns out, he’s just as naïve as she is! Will this pair of innocents ever get past their awkwardness (and the age gap)?!”
